My brother and I went to see "Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol" a couple of days ago. We were going to see it in the evening, but when we went to buy tickets we were informed that children (under 18) aren't allowed in the theatre after 9PM. That was a bit of a drag. We came back the next day and all was well :). I really like Japanese theatres - the seats are comfortable, there's nobody being annoying and they all have caramel popcorn. Hooray for movies!

This evening we went and ate at Sizzler in at Shinjuku. We were going to do it before, a few days ago, but neglected to bring a map with us. Turns out it's about 2 blocks from the station and we were really, really close to finding it the first time. The food was good, the staff were nice and the music was great! They were playing some pretty cool stuff from the nineties - all the way from Puff Daddy through Naughty by Nature to Dido (I'm aware Dido was just outside the nineties, but she has the same vibe).
Introducing ginger!@ 10/01/12 04:29 am
Today I got my JavaScript template library "working" - it's online at https://github.com/deoxxa/node-ginger and available from npm as "ginger". A short overview follows:

Ginger is "spicy templating for node and the browser inspired by Twig, dust and Hogan.js". It's designed to be easy to use and extend, very portable and quick. Drawing inspiration for its syntax from Twig and jinja2, streaming rendering from dust and portability from Hogan.js, it is intended to bring the best aspects from existing libraries together in one package.

So that's that. I'm feeling pretty good about the structure of the code - it's easy enough to add features to the core at the moment and with some careful planning it should remain that way for the foreseeable future.
Hacker News Tokyo Meetup@ 06/01/12 08:38 pm
There's a HN Tokyo meetup on the 20th of January. I leave on the 18th. Worst timing ever.
Rent@ 06/01/12 01:51 pm
Going into Shinjuku today to pay rent, yay! First stop is the real estate agent, then we're going to go use one of these Burger King vouchers for cheap food. Everyone loves cheap food!
Heroku@ 06/01/12 03:17 am
I'm messing about with Heroku at the moment. I like how easy it is to set up an app on there, but the pricing is a bit steep considering I already have hardware sitting in a rack. Darn cool idea though, I might employ some of their ideas (specifically zero-config apps using environment variables) in the "environment" concept I have for the Buffered Information Gateway at work.
